Description of the project

1) Research project “Space for Talents” was a contest for children 6 – 18 years old. As the main organizers, we wanted to know, how they see their future work in common and working space in particular. And we got 87 video-answers during 2 months. Every video has its own idea and value for the research. Some participants suggest to settle unicorns in the offices, create cryptocurrency for internal office use or just plant a garden. Some of the ideas seem a fantasy, but others are already real.

Analyzing the videos showed us that there is no border anymore between “here I work” and “here I live”. Work & life balance, parent smart office, strong community — all these is important for new generation. The future office — is an office which does not exist, because it looks more like home.

We didn’t get ideas about efficient working places or convenient chairs. In 10 – 15 years children want to work and live closer to nature (many videos were about harmony and work & life balance), in a parent smart, healthy environment, combined with communication and sports. And it is really important for them being creative — at any work position.

Work is an environment for development of a person and design can help it to be inspiring, productive and healthy. Design is not just about aesthetics. It can bring a meaning into the space and it’s a great HR-tool. And the future is in combined, mobile and ecologic models of buildings. It will shape the city’s functionality and infrastructure in a new way.

The project tries to solve social problems through design, in particular to increase attention to decent working conditions and functionality. Space becomes HR tool. This affects the choice of employees fighting for talent.
