Description of the project

Mariupol Development Fund (MDF), created in 2016, is an innovative, new and modern format of local community outreach that is unique in Ukraine.The MDF is a non-governmental organisation that unites representatives of business, public organisations and civic activists with the aim of implementing promising ideas and projects to improve the quality of life and well-being of citizens.

The MDF’s primary goal is to create a long-term infrastructural development strategy for the city.

The MDF is a platform for constructive dialogue between small and medium businesses, potential investors, donor organisations and local authorities with the aim of creating a favourable business environment and implementing investment and innovation projects.

The Foundation has five committees:
• on development of small and medium business, investment and regulatory policy;
• on transport and infrastructure;
• on city's housing and communal services;
• on culture, education, sports and youth policy;
• on social policy, medicine and ecology.

Each of these comittee is creating its own development program, which is being implemented into the overall action plan "Strategy 2021"..

Projects of the Mariupol Development Fund are strategic in nature, and many of them have long-term implementation.

Therefore, a large part of the attracted money can be regarded as direct foreign investment in the economy of the country and the region. The fund's activities allow the local population to raise funds for improving the city's infrastructure.

Sustainable cities ans communities

An example of the work of the MDF can be used by metallurgical and any other industrial companies, such as a case for the development of a large city of presence, in the context of limited own capabilities and the state budget.
