Description of the project

The First Profession is a social program that helps orphans have a job in the future and find their own way in life.

Since 2013, we have been training 10-15-year-old orphans to acquire their first trade skills, help them find their way in life and find a job in the future outside the orphanage. In particular, we organize free courses in cutting and sewing, hairdressing, shoe making and repairing, cooking and other trades.

Professional school clubs (courses) are working during the whole academic year with regular sessions once a week.

For these sessions, we find the best tutors and provide their workshops with the necessary materials and tools. During the classes, children also visit modern large and small manufacturing facilities to have a better understanding of professions.

Teachers become mentors and friends for the children. They teach them how to communicate with the world and earn for living, they teach them to dream and achieve their goals. They show orphans that everything is possible if you learn and work. They also teach these children to use their knowledge and skills to help each other.
It is a resource-consuming and long-term project that takes a huge amount of interpersonal work with every child. At the same time, this is a real help for every child to get a chance for success in life.

The program started when we opened hairdressing courses in Velycopoloveckyi orphanage in 2010. Nowadays, the Program works in 21 professional school clubs in15 orphanages in 9 regions of Ukraine. Each year we cover 300 students of orphanages.
